Coveris New corporate magazine connects employees around European sites

Optima helped Coveris to reimagine their internal magazine following a corporate rebrand, bringing company news and staff stories to life.

Coveris are one of the leading packaging manufacturers for some of the world’s most well-known brands and have several manufacturing sites in Europe.

Following the company’s rebranding in 2019, Optima worked with Coveris to reimagine many corporate materials, including their ‘Connect’ magazine, distributed to sites in Europe and Egypt.

The magazine literally does ‘connect’ the workforce, ensuring consistent corporate communications and providing insights into what is going on at each site and the lives of the staff who work there. The magazine is produced quarterly in English, French, German and Hungarian. Optima looks after all the versions in-house, working with the design in English first and then adapting and typesetting each translated version.

Coveris’ commitment to product innovation, sustainability and waste reduction is often reflected in editorial content, and we have ensured that the magazine materials reflect this, selecting sustainable paper stocks. We choose uncoated paper stocks without any finishings, such as laminates or varnishes, to ensure the magazine is fully recyclable.

Coveris’ people feature prominently in each magazine edition, some as colourful cover stars. We have used the brand colour palette within image backdrops to create depth and dimension to the pages. Though the publication uses the brand font ‘Uniform’ in the main, we have also introduced an editorial serif font and creative marker font to distinguish different types of content and provide the reader with more variation and interest.

Corporate information is brought to life with icons, graphics and typographic stylings, which supports the friendly, informal copywriting style to engage with staff at all levels. We continue to build and develop the magazine's visual identity for each issue to ensure Connect continues to be a flagship publication for Coveris, which they are proud to have on their reception coffee tables.
