Elevating the Identity for a Driven, Distinctive Construction Brand
A confident visual identity that brings the passion of Wheeldon Developments to life across every touchpoint.
Making a Memorable Impact Across All Areas
Wheeldon Developments is a standout name in the construction industry; known for the pride and care they take in every project. When the director approached us, he had a clear ambition. He wanted a brand that felt as strong and memorable as the work they deliver. They wanted to move away from familiar construction branding and create something unmistakably Wheeldon.
The foundations were already there. Rather than a complete rebrand, the project focused on refining the existing identity and creating a more consistent presence across every customer touchpoint. As a business working across extensions, new builds, renovations, conversions and maintenance, they needed an identity that felt as dependable as their work, while giving the brand a sharper, more contemporary edge.
From the very first conversation, it was clear that this brand needed to work everywhere. On apparel. On business cards. On digital platforms. On site signage. And most recently, on a bold new Heras banner that now sits proudly on their developments. Wheeldon wanted to do it all, and we worked closely with the team to ensure the brand performed reliably across every application.
From a Strong Foundation to a Confident Structure
Wheeldon already had a solid starting point. Their existing logo had character, it was simple, distinctive and instantly associated with the business, but it needed refinement to unlock its full potential. Through visual exploration and collaborative consultation, we strengthened the mark, rebalanced its structure and paired it with a more robust typeface. The result was an identity that felt more polished and practical, without losing the familiarity that made it recognisably Wheeldon.
Alongside this, we expanded their brand world through colour, print and imagery. One decision became central to the entire identity: the colour. After exploring a range of options, we landed on Pantone 809C, a neon yellow‑green that brought clarity, visibility and a fresh sense of character to the brand. It appears bright and energetic on screen, perfectly matching the brief to stand out anywhere.
But neon comes with challenges. Pantone 809C sits in a part of the spectrum that screens handle easily, but print does not. Neon vibrancy relies on intensity, and that intensity is difficult to replicate through the subtractive CMYK process. Without specialist inks, the CMYK equivalent will always be softer than the Pantone swatch.
Creating Excitement Across Every Asset
From the outset, we understood how Pantone 809C would behave across different materials. Where specialist neon inks and suitable substrates were available, we used the true Pantone. Everywhere else, we created a carefully selected CMYK working equivalent, chosen by eye using physical Pantone books and agreed by the Optima studio team.
Colour was only one part of the story. To ensure the brand remained effective across all applications, we explored a range of finishes and techniques. Foil. Spot UV. High‑contrast layouts. Confident typography. Each element worked together to create a brand that felt cohesive, flexible and ready for real‑world use.
This attention to detail extended across every asset, from stationery and business cards to workwear, digital assets and large‑scale site materials. The identity needed to feel considered in hand, not just polished on screen, and every decision supported that goal.
A Brand That Stands Out Everywhere
The result is a visual identity that has transformed how Wheeldon Developments presents itself. The neon accent, paired with structured layouts and premium finishes, has created a brand that feels clear, professional and instantly associated with the business.
No matter where it appears, the Wheeldon identity now carries a consistent, distinctive presence that reflects the ambition and pride behind every project they deliver. It is reliable. It is structured. It is built for the real world.
