We’re looking for a Web Developer who’s ready to play an active role in delivering high-quality digital work. At Optima, we’ve been producing thoughtful, effective design solutions for over 30 years. As part of our growing digital team, you’ll help bring ideas to life – building robust, user-focused websites and contributing to projects that span sectors, audiences, and platforms.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with account managers, project managers, designers, and developers to deliver work that meets – and exceeds – client expectations. You’ll be supported, challenged, and given the opportunity to develop your skills as part of an ambitious and collaborative team.
What you’ll be doing
- Collaborate with all areas of the business to create engaging, functional, and high-performing websites.
- Develop and maintain WordPress and other CMS-based websites.
- Translate creative designs into accurate, responsive, pixel-perfect builds
- Identify and resolve issues through testing, debugging, and optimisation
- Ensure websites are secure, fast, and easy to use
- Carry out quality assurance on your own work and support reviews across projects
- Support clients with updates, fixes, and ongoing enhancements
- Apply best practices in UX, accessibility, and modern web standards
- Contribute to a wide variety of projects across different sectors and platforms
- Support the wider team throughout all stages of delivery

Who we’re looking for
- Minimum one years of commercial experience as a developer, ideally in an agency environment
- A solid grounding in modern HTML and SCSS
- JavaScript experience, React a plus
- Experienced with PHP, ideally understanding OOP fundamentals
- Familiarity with common content management systems, specifically WordPress
- Familiarity with Version Control
- Worked with APIs
- Core understanding of good user experience and accessibility
- Solid communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve
- Problem-solving mindset, strong mathematical skills, and a keen eye for detail
- A team player
- Hardworking and flexible
