Graphic Designer

Full-time, permanent, office/hybrid

£26-£37k p/a, dependent on experience.

We are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our fast-paced design studio. You will get to work on varied client accounts and different aspects of design, including brand, design for print and digital. 

We offer a breadth of design services at Optima, and you should be keen to work in all areas of design for print, including branding, layouts, exhibition, packaging and illustration. You will also need to adapt your skills to digital environments and create designs to work on-screen and mobile, including digital advertising and social. We are a very busy agency, so every team member needs to be adaptable, enthusiastic, passionate and committed to creating great design. You also need to be efficient, work on your initiative and be confident to contribute creative solutions. 

This role is a fantastic opportunity for a Graphic Designer looking for a long-term career where you can develop your skills. The position is not suitable for new graduates.

You will

  • Report to our Creative Lead, and work closely with the wider design team on a broad range of creative briefs.
  • Interpret and respond to creative briefs and deliver high-quality results.
  • Be expected to generate creative and conceptual ideas, working individually and as a team.
  • Be scheduled to work on a wide variety of projects which will give you exposure to different types of clients, their brands and how they work.
  • Undertake more technical design aspects, including setting documents and reports for international clients in different languages.
  • Develop your skills in a wide range of disciplines including brand, packaging, exhibition and digital.
  • As part of the wider design team input and critique work and support junior designers.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the execution and detail of each of your projects is taken care of.
  • Support the broader agency team at all project stages, as required.

Who we’re looking for:

  • BA Graphic Design degree or equivalent qualification in a design discipline
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an agency environment
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs – Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop are essential – XD, After Effects, Premiere and Dimension, would be an advantage.
  • A varied portfolio of creative design work which demonstrates clear thinking and ideas
  • Solid communication skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve
  • An excellent eye for detail
  • A team player
  • Hardworking and flexible

Hybrid Working

Optional home working for up to two days a week, the rest of the week office-based to help support and mentor junior staff and collaborate as a team.
