The Collection Icicles Competition

For the last 11 years Optima have sponsored the Christmas tree at The Collection Museum. Every year we invite local schools to decorate a Christmas Decoration based on the year’s events or a classic Christmas Object. To celebrate the Ice Rink’s return to the City and all things sparkly this year we picked icicles.

In 2015 we had Christmas Barons – which you can read about here… other years have seen decorated poppies, Christmas jumpers, candy sticks and stars…

The schools chosen to take part were Swinderby, Manor Leas and St Francis School. We had over 200 colourful and creative designs that came covered in glitter, pasta, amazing illustrations and some super colouring in.

We did the judging at The Collection Museum and as ever because the designs were all so different and amazing the decision to crown the best decoration was difficult. The overall worthy winner was Poppy Sinclair aged 7 from Manor Leas School.

Poppy received her prize, presented by Tracy and Lorne at the museum just after the Xmas market. The winning entry now sits proudly at the top of the Tree. We offered Poppy her prize and she has taken it home to pop under her tree for Xmas so we can’t tell you what she won!

So if you want to see all the amazing designs pop along to The Collection in Lincoln on Danes Terrace - and if your school wants to enter the competition next year then please get in touch with us.
