Surf’s up!

The National Heritage Fishing Centre in Grimsby asked us to create a styling for adverts and posters to help promote a travelling exhibition on British surfing. We approached the project by researching the heritage of surfing graphics.
We wanted something handmade and retro looking, using a simple colour palette and strong bold graphics. Optima also suggested other marketing ideas such as contacting the VW owners club to arrange a bug jam on the opening day. Optima have suppliers who can print onto multiple substrates including direct to wood and plastic. Tests are taking place to create a surf board with the design printed directly to it. This of course can then be made waterproof and used. Our client at the Heritage centre is delighted with the project and the The British Surfing Museum have commented on how great it is and have asked to use the design.
