Schools’ Christmas Competition 09

This is the fourth year Optima Graphic Design Consultants have sponsored the Christmas Trees at The Collection and this year we decided to keep the recycled theme and decorate empty yoghurt pots.
It all started way back in 2003 (yes, that is 6 years ago when Michelle McManus won Pop Idol and Phil Tufnell won I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here) when we were approached by the City and County Museum to work closely with them on their new identity. Now known as The Collection, we have formed a close working relationship with them.
We contacted selected schools around the city where we asked 5 – 8 year old pupils to come up with a festive design for the pots. These designs would then be used to decorate the trees within the Museum. The schools involved were Manor Leas Infant School, Ermine Primary School, Priory Witham Academy and Bracebridge Infant and Nursery School. Just under 100 colourful and creative designs were submitted.
The judging of the competition was extremely difficult but the eventual winner was Chloe Bartholomew (age 7) from Ermine Primary School. The two worthy runners up were Jacob Tamisari (Manor Leas Infant School) and Jack Thacker (Ermine Primary School). Chloe will receive a prize for her fantastic design with an article on the competition to follow soon in the Lincolnshire Echo.
All of the designs will be on display throughout the Christmas period at The Collection so why not visit and see for yourself.
On behalf of everyone at The Collection and Optima Graphic Design, we would like to thank all the schools that took part and congratulations to Chloe.
