Optima Love Local
At Optima we love supporting local producers and eating local food so we relished the opportunity to rebrand the Lincolnshire Co-operative Local Choice range.
A successful rebrand of the Saxilby Co-op delicatessen kick-started the project, which led to a Love Local pilot scheme at the Caistor Co-op, a fairly new store in north-east Lincolnshire with a wide ranging demographic of shoppers.
Optima Designer, Rhona Breeze, said: “We recognised that Lincolnshire Co-op are really passionate about supporting local producers and suppliers, and we needed to come up with a name and branding which reflected this; hence the Love Local name.”
The Love Local branding features a green hand-drawn heart in the logo, teamed with the use of a handwritten-style typeface, and the use of polaroids, brown paper and slate textures, creating a rustic, handcrafted aesthetic to compliment the fresh, local qualities of the Love Local range.
Laura Dunne, Head of Marketing at Lincolnshire Co-operative, said: “We’re delighted with the recent revamp and, following an increase in sales at Saxilby, hope the pilot at Caistor has a similar success.”
Before and After photos:
If the pilot scheme proves successful, the new Love Local branding – which includes Love Local bunting, shelf graphics, posters, signage, free-standing units and giant polaroids – will be rolled out across Lincolnshire stores.
To compliment the pilot scheme and launch of the new Love Local branding, a Lincolnshire Co-op Tastes on Tour community vehicle is touring a range of county shows, giving the public the opportunity to sample some new local products and vote for their favourite flavour, which will be stocked in stores later in the year.
If you’d like to sample raspberry pavlova and tutti frutti flavour Dennett’s ice cream or Wissington spicy tomato and Karnataka black pepper Pipers crisps, and vote for your favourite, you can catch the Tastes on Tour stand at:
- Lincolnshire Show on 20th and 21st June
- Spilsby Show on 8th July
- Heckington Show on 28th and 29th July
- Revesby Show on 5th August
- Wragby Show on 2nd September
Lincolnshire Co-op is committed to cutting food miles and supporting local producers, stocking a range of locally-produced food that is often not available in supermarkets; from ice cream made by Spilsby family firm, Dennetts, and Brigg-based Pipers crisps to Myers plum loaf produced at a family bakery based in Horncastle.
We don’t know about you but we’re already putting the Tastes on Tour dates in our diary.
